Lehman Fowler has devoted his career to agriculture, having spent nearly all of it in Arkansas. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas. Mr. Fowler has managed farms of up to 20,000 acres in the heart of Arkansas’ rice country. He has managed an 18,000-acre Rice and Soybean Division of Winrock Farms. In addition, he has also managed farms engaged in raising corn, soybeans and cotton, as well as cattle. As trustee of the Jewell Minnis Trust, Mr. Fowler managed a farming operation from which income was turned over to the University of Arkansas for scholarships. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for Rice Science & Education. As the founder of Specialty Rice Marketing of Brinkley, Mr. Fowler’s discovery of Della Rice—an aromatic rice—stands as the crowning achievement of his career in agriculture. Today, Della Rice is recognized as one of the premier aromatic rices on the market and is enjoyed by people across the nation. He has served on the boards of directors of the Arkansas Farm Bureau and Riceland Foods. He has also served as president of the Lee and Woodruff County Farm Bureaus and as a member of the Agricultural Policy Institute based at North Carolina State University. A Navy veteran, Mr. Fowler is regarded as a leader in his home community, where he has served as president of the Brinkley School Board and the Brinkley Rotary Club. He has also served as vice president of the Arkansas Economic Education Council and has remained active in the First Baptist Church of Brinkley.
